William Russell

Sheriff and Alderman of the City of London Corporation

William Russell was first elected an Alderman in March 2013 following a 19 year career in the City. William worked at First Boston Corporation, before working for Merrill Lynch for 14 years, spending time in Hong Kong, New York and London.

Today he is Chairman of CDAM (UK) Ltd an Asset Management firm and Senior Advisor to STJ Advisors.  He is also a Director of Red Savannah, Congham Hall Hotel and Knightsbridge Schools International. He is Chairman and one of the Founders of Knightsbridge School.  He is the past Chairman of Prostate Cancer UK and he is a past Chairman of the Development Board of the Royal Court Theatre.

William is also a guarantor for Innovate Finance, an independent not for profit membership organisation serving the global FinTech community for which the City of London Corporation is the lead sponsor.  William also chairs the City of London Corporation and Innovate Finance Network Action Group, an advisory panel for policy development supporting the ecosystem for FinTech.  He is also a member of the Development Board of the Charterhouse, and Deputy Chairman of the Charity Place2be.
